Need help with fleshing

Please help....I want to mount a prairie dog. I know how to skin the animal, but I am lost as how to flesh it. I can't seem to find any books or videos that show this process. The one that I did try ended up so thin you could see through the hide. Also, I bag and spray with bug spray soon as they are shot, is this enough protection, I am a little concerned about the plague or any other diseases. Any help anyone can give me would be great. Thanks, ML

fleshing is a pain at first but it gets alot easier with time if u have no tools then go into your kitchen and get a kitchen knife(butter knife) as i call it and find u something to lay the hide on at a 45 degree angle scrape the fat and meat off going away from ur body. a peice of angle iron will also work us dull metal not sharpe, dull work better because u want to push off the fat not cut it off. how do u know when it is all off? u will know it should be white with know meat or fat. u can make a fleshing beam out of a 2x6 cut it to an angel and round it off with a sander a very good website that shows in more detail in www.trap4kids.com or a 4" pvc pipe cut at an angel will work a beam will make this process a whole lot easier but it can be done with out it next salt the hide.

just freeze it.

your not gonna get no plague and you dont have to spray bug spray.freeze it without the bugspray.just wear rubber gloves and have some good disinfectant spray and youll be allright.
