never seen before and that is real bad freezer burn.
I have done taxidermy for quite a while but havent ever seen it this bad.
I bought a fisher from and unsaid source and found out that it had been frozen for 10 years there is burn on the body and real bad on the face. I did get it skined out to each ankle and the head I cut them off there.Does any one know how I might can get the face and toes damp enough to skin with out damage to the skin.
I have never faced this problem before and I know some of you guys have 20+ years at this.

Stop Rot?

I hear miracles that stuff does. Maybe you could inject the feet and head and put some on the skin before you turn and salt the hide. Only speculating though haven't tried it, but what do you got to loose, besides never buying from the unsaid source again?

Thanks

Soak in cold water

I have had marten and fisher like this before. What I do is soak the frozen whole animal in cold water in the laundry tub overnite. The next morning they are thawed and ready to skin. I suppose you could still do this with your fisher skin with head & feet in. good luck

Bad freezer burn

Russell, Best way to skin out freezer burned feet, ears ,lips etc is inject each area with syringe of warm water, the flesh will plump up right away and skinning will go pretty much as if normal. If you don't have the syringe just soak in light salt water over night in the refrigerator. Freezer burn is just a minor problem, enjoy-Aaron H.
