Hi people.
Just a basic enquiry.
I usually do my rugs from start to finish myself,(wet tan), but i recently found a tanner here who does a wonderful job on skins.
I had a fox skin tanned for a rug but it came back dry tanned.
My question is - would i rehydrate just from the neck up and the feet (they need work)?
The skin is extreemly soft and i'd hate to loose that.

rehydrate what you need to work on, nothing else.
...Just rehydrate the head and make sure after you mount it that you check that the nose and tail are in alignment. Then lay the head and skin flat on a milk crate or the like to allow air flow to expediate drying time. Also this keeps a nice flat juncture from the back of the head form to the neck skin for when you rehydrate to stretch. I would recommend working on your feet when you soak up the rest of the body prior to stretching.
Kindest Regards,
Mary
