Weasel skull

I am macerating a weasel skull and I was wondering if the teeth will fall out eventually. The small front teeth are tiny and it will be difficult to place them back in the right place after they have fallen out. If they will fall out I will remove them and save them seperately.

Greetings Peter

I've done a few weasel skulls without any tooth loss, and the trick is to remove the skull from the maceration bath just before those front teeth come out. You have to check the little skull every day and remove some of the tissue. Keep the jaw pressed again the top of the skull so the mouth doesn't open up. The chances are you will never find those tiny front teeth if you loose them in the bath. When you rinse the skull with clean water, again keep the mouth pressed shut and be really careful. It can be done, but you have to go about it with diligence and extreme care.

Thanks Evelyn

I will check the skull regularly now, I hope it will work out.

Peter
