First bobcat mount

This is my first bobcat mount, here are some pics. I don't know if you can see close enough in the pics to give a little critique, because my camera is a piece of junk. But I just thought I'd share. ;)

I am not usually one to critizize or comment on someone's work but I have to say that that bobcat looks pretty realistic. nice work.

Nina, just a few minor things

I HATE critiquing because someone's pride and joy is being assaulted and you tend to be the bad guy when you say something. However, I guess some people think that about me any way.

The cat is a great start. My first cat looked a WHOLE lot worse than yours as it was one of my first pieces. I used a wrapped body and the real skull. You talk about a piece of trash, that was one big piece. It was a BIG cat, too, and I dogged it up rather well.

From what I see, you need to take more time grooming your animal. Personally, I'd have back brushed the cat to give the hair some bulk. It LOOKS as if your right front leg skin has been twisted completely around that leg. I notice the white underhair at the armpit, but it migrates over the leg in front as if it's twisted. On the back hip, you have white hair that should be on the back side of the leg exposed.

The picture isn't detailed enough to see eye position or the work on the feet, but I think grooming will improve your work tremendously.

Heres a tip... I always wash my cats after they dry with Pert Plus Shampoo. Reason being, it has conditioner added in the shampoo. The fur will fluff up great then. Then I use an air compresor, your cat will look like a fur ball then.

Hope this helps,
Tony J.

Hey my 2 cents

Great first cat. But George is right that front right leg is off and the back hip should be pulled around more. But I dont believe in the "grooming" of wild animals to make them look like they just came back from the pet shop. Yes, back brush your hair then comb it back in the natural lay of the animal. I have yet to see a bobcat in the woods look like it spend the day at the hairdressers.

But keep up the good work and you will get there.
