I live in NC and they range from 17" - 20"ish around here, based on deer that I mounted over the past 2 years. That may not take rut into consideration. But there are geographical differences in just a 2 hour drive, southern deer have shorter necks than those in the north. Northern counties tend to have bigger necks too. Hope it helps

Thats what I thought

then I'd be good getting a 19" replacement hide for a client who dropped off a set of antlers today. Thanks

The average deer mounted is between 2-1/2 and 3-1/2 years old, has a 7x19 measurement and weighs about 170 lbs. The antlers will normally score around 100. This has not changed over the last 20 years. Someone will probably tell you the deer they do are much bigger and that may be true in some areas but the numbers I gave you are from long-term statistics.

about 6 1/2 to 6 3/4 x 17. That's in central Texas, go south, north or east and they are bigger. BP

Tend to have bigger heads! LOL! Average seems to be around 7 1/4-7 1/2 X 20-21. In rut of course. Summer deer tend to have about a 16-17 inch neck.

Along with the size of the racks and the body the more times the story is told and the more beers that are consumed between the tellings. That's been my experience.
