help with rabbit hide stitching

I tanned a rabbit hide with croatan 2000 and was having problems with stitches tearing through while mounting it. Is there any way to toughen it up while tanning or before stitching to solve this? Feel free to E-mail me with advice. Thanks

I do a few rabbits a year and you can't draw on the thread like w/ other hides, be gentle, just snug them up. First thing is make sure it fits your form properly, not to tight. Cause if it fits, you won't have to pull your stitches hard.

I have found that by using hide paste, it helps the skin pull into place better (like a lubricant). Then you don't have to pull very hard on the thread to get the stitches to come together. Joe
