Remember the pupils are controlled by light and not attitude. Usually, you can't see them anyway when they're snarling with the muzzle and eyebrows wrinkled so badly that they're squint eyed.

They can be either way.I agree with all that George said except cat pupils are controlled by light conditions AND mood.Their pupils actually open wide when scared,excited or in shock-regardless of light condition.In recent years I've been using the expanded pupil eyes more for relaxed and snarling lions and really like the look.In the end,I think it's personal preference.
