I have noticed that my skins are a different nose to tail measurement after tanning than they were when I took them from the animal. There must be an explanation that I'm not thinking of. I have already hydrated and stretched them sideways.

The catalogs always tell you to measure the nose to tail measurements in the position you are going to mount the critter in.I have never remeasured after tanning so I couldn't tell you wether or not the measurements would gain any more length,but I'm assuming there must be some difference or else the catalogs wouldn't include this tip.
