Would a machine for repairing shoes work? I have a Singer 29 K Patcher I bought from a shoe repair buisness. It has the walking foot etc. It will sew 10oz leather with no problem.

...with that machine. Best bet is to take a scrap piece of bear with felt and material on it and run it through and see if it works for you.
