What are the drawbacks. Im a bird man, but I bave done some squirels and a couple coon with DP. Now I have a yote to do. What do you think of DP for this. I figured it would work just as well as it did on a coon. A coon has thicker skin and they come out real nice with DP, or at lest I think so.

works fine on coyotes just as it does on most small game. We use dp on everything in our shop unless a client wants it tanned. We charge more of course for the tanning and it is at the clients own risk. Hope this helps you out.
You can check out our web site there are some Dp'ed yotes on there.

Yes you can DP a yote, but be sure it is fleshed real well, degreased and washed and washed again, preferably with a deodorizer such as malagon. Otherwise the mount might have some of that stinky yote odor.
when you tan you get rid of all of associated slippage problems - at least when you use krowtann you do - i dont have any problem with coyote smell
with Dp, many of them are decades old and still in great shape. I would actually prefere to mount them and foxes with Dp as I can gaurantee you will get it back in good shape. No gaurantee if you want it tanned.
I specialize in birds and havent had a chance to do much else. I did some nuisance trapping this past winter and I have a freezer running over with coon skins. I did a few coon just to cut my teeth and to my surprise they turned out just as good as anything I have seen out there. The yote was shot during the muzzle loader season by a friend, so he donated it to my cause. I will soon be adding full body mamals to my price list. I will draw the line at anything larger then a yote for now though. I just done have room for anything larger. My birds take up more room then I have now.
There is no comparison between D.P. and a tanned skin mounts. D.P. is a cheap way to mount any animal. D.P. is not even tanning it is a rip off. The quality is 100 times better using a tanned skin.

100 times better than a dp'd skin - there's aplace for both forms of preservatives
