I am doing a pedistal mount of a coyote. The cape is in the pickle, tan right now and due to come out wed. I am using krowtann. It has to be one of the stinkingest critters I have ever had in the shop, Any ideas how to get most of the smell out. I plan on washing it in tide as per directions by I believe that this will not be enough to remove the oder. P.S. (it is a good cape and the smell is not from it being rotten) Any help would be appreciated. Have a good day. Bob

Robert i would think that the Krowtann itself would take most of the smell out over the course of 3 to 4 days.

They just stink...

I have never mounted one that didn't. Try this, a client shoots one that immediately has a bowel movement and rolls in it. So the client throws it in a bag and into the freezer. Brings it in frozen. Talk about stink! The worst smell, worse than gut shot, putrid coon. Work for a minute, out for fresh air

i have mounted 100's of them - when you wash out krowtann wash with dawn and then rinse in fabric softener - smell will be 100% gone - if you still dont like smell mist it with hide sheen

Lysol works well to...purchase the concentrate and mix a little heavy before putting in pickel then rinse out...Hang to drip dry for ten minutes and put in pickle...make sure you check the PH because it will raise a little..Good Luck with the odor...hope your not working in the basement...It did that once and the wife was ready to shoot me!
