Mounting a Baby Raccoon-Couple Questions

I have a baby raccoon in the freezer right now that I still need to flesh and turn. I am going to tan it with the McKenzie tan and on the McKenzie form RC-5. Anyway, I'm not the smartest guy when it comes to paint and, truthfully, have never painted anything as this is my first life-size mount. What type of paint should I use to paint around the eyes, the lips, the nose, and the pads. I was thinking a laquer based jet black but I could use a second opinion. Also, would it be possible to mount this coon on a tree branch that I sawed off of a tree. If so, how would I go about preserving this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

depends on branch

if it is a straight branch you shouldn't have any trouble with just cutting one off - if it has all sorts of fingers your're prbobaly better off with artificial - i use payne's gray for small mammals as opposed to black

Thanks

Yes it's just going to be a straight branch. Thanks for the help.
