EYE WORK LOOKS FAKE!

Submitted by buwana on 6/25/06 at 3:44 AM. ( ) 208.65.81.166

I'm having trouble getting convincing eyework on my squirells. I use oil paints, follow up gloss. This on top of magic sculp.
I can't get the smooth wet look I desire. They look too painted instead of blended. The area is so small,I get paint where I don't intend.
Also ,what color should be used on the lips?

I use brown apoxy sculpt, just a little in the front corner of the eyes if I have any gaps, then I apply a little black with a tooth pick.As far as the nose just a little paynes gray or black in the nostril openings to cover the form-if you can see the form through the openings.I don't apply gloss. As far as the mouth is concerned,a little mars red with a touch of brown--this is used again if you didn't use teeth and you can see just a little of the form.I f you have squirrels in your front yard like I do,look at their eyes, they stick out just a little further than what people set them when their mounting. The squirrels I have here in Illinois are fox squirrels,I'm assuming thats what your mounting,if not your colors will be just a little different, but it really only takes just a weeeeee little bit of paint.

Thanks for reply!
