I just inherited a large Polar Bear Rug which has seen better days. The rug is very old (probably close to 80 years), yet still in good shape mounted on what appears to be a very heavy felt and then mounted to a quilted fabric. It has the full head, claws, etc. and is about 9 feet long and 9 feet wide at the paws.
Problem is the former owners were chain smokers and the rug has 30 years worth of cigarette smoke caught in the fur. It also needs minor repairs to one of the ears and the paws. Anyone have any idea who would be able to repair and clean this and how much it would cost? Or alternatively, is there anything I can do to clean it? I'm located in Southern, CT. Thanks.

A fellow taxidermist had the same problem---he used Windex and
paper towels, then a hairbrush and hair sheen. It was beautiful
when he finished.
