Any advice on pricing life-size mammals? Im just getting started and I'm not sure if there is a general procedure to pricing them or not, is is generally by the footage of the hide, or just simply set prices as I feel that are suffiecient. thanks

...I found a price list from the most expensive taxidermist I could find. In that case it was Jonas Brothers in Denver. I took a comparison of my deer head price to their's and then used the same percentage to calculate the rest of my prices in relation to what they charged. It worked well for me. I just wish that I'd been smart enough from the start to just use their price list! LOL
Price depends on what you are mounting and how you mount it.Your experience. Is it cutom work (altering form to put animal in a one of a kind action pose) that will cost more to do verses mounting it on a stock factory form? Figure out tanning and shipping shop rate shop supplies labor price and how long estimated time to do it. Cost of form and scenery work etc. I think this has been discussed in the archives. Prices will be all over the place for the same animal. They say where you are from determines the price because of compatition. I say you charge what you are worth and prove you are better than the others by doing better work. I pay no attention to others prices they follow our lead, except for a buddy of mine we check with each other to see which of us has the highest prices each year. He usually tries to be about $20 bucks over mine on most things most of the time
