Cleaning a wolf's tooth.

Hi. My son and I shot our first wolf up the Alaska Highway and I took his upper canine tooth. How might I clean it? Boil, peroxide, alcohol? Thanks. Dan

For one thing don't ever boil a tooth. Boiling almost always will crack a tooth in half. There a two things you could do. You could macerate it, by letting it sit in a closed container filled with water. The flesh will eventually fall off, but it stinks really bad. Or you could send it to someone who has dermestid beetles. The beetles will eat all of the flesh off of the tooth. I have my own colony of beetles and I think that they are by far the best method of skull cleaning. Thank you.
