Pig skin colouring

I am about go through the process of mounting a domestic pig for one of our new displays at the Museum Victoria,Australia.
I realize that I am going to have to colour the flesh tint back onto the skin after I have mounted it ,but I am wondering if anyone has pigmented their skins with some sort of dye during the tanning or pickling processes.I would like to have some sort of fleshy colour to start with, for a better depth of tone and possibly a more permanent one.If this is going to be too unrealistic I would like to know what would be the best medium to (spray ) on the skin that will not flake off the surface in years to come as I have seen with some of our old mounts in the collection.Cheers!
