Hi Valentin, An argali is quite a bit bigger than our bighorns . Precision Mannikins has a very nice argali form. Also Van Dykes has a couple. Precision has a web page at www.precisionmannikins.com. Bob C

Many thanks for your reply Bob,
I have one more question to all.I found very good form on Precision Mannikins catalog, but
it is named Marco Polo!?!It seems to be a little bit bigger then the other sheep
forms I found, but I'm wonder what animal is it?I have several very nice
sistematical dictionaries for the animals over the World, but didn't find it.
There's no such animal named Marco Polo! What is it?
Best wishes!
Valentin

Marco Polo is a Type of Argali

This response submitted by Dan on 6/22/99. ( )

Valentin, The Argali is a group of sheep called Argaliformes. They are the most impressive group of wild sheep. They Range in size from 200 lbs. for the Tibetan Argali to the Altai Argali wich wieghs about 450 lbs. In the U.S. When a sheep is refered to as an Argali it is generally a Gobi Argali which weighs about 300 lbs. or an Altai Argali. The scientific names are Ovis ammon ammon -Altai. Ovis ammon darwini-Gobi. What I'm trying to say is don't order your form until your hide is tanned. Precision and Van Dykes Don Holt forms are good. Good Luck

Thanks...

Hi, Valentin!

Marco Polo Argali or Marco Polo in short is the common name. In latin it is called Ovis Am(m)on Polii.
It is second largest sheep in the world coming right next to Ovis Amon Amon which has thicker base. Although Marco Polo can get quite long in the horn department. True Marco Polo lives in Badakhshan province of Tadjikistan.

Good luck with your job.
