Fast or Properly?

Getting it off fast and getting it off properly are two different things.

To get it off properly - go to a quality hobby store with lots of models etc and get a 'cyanoacrylate solvent'. Cyanoacrylate is the technical name for super glues. The tricky part is going to be getting it under the quarter. A very fine syringe would be required. One used for insulin injections available from a pharmacy should do.

To get it off fast - and I gotta say first - this may not be the best thing for the floor.....

Trying to get something under the edge of it and prying it up will likely do damage to the floor - a lateral impact would be safer. Cyanoacrylates are crystaline in nature and are prone to fracturing with any sort of impact. Apply some heat from a hair dryer and then place a chisel or a nail or something against the edge of the quarter. Tap the end of the tool lightly and it *should* pop right off. Be sure your tool is almost parallel to the floor - you want to try to knock the quarter off sideways. A 15 degree angle is good. Some light sanding may be required on the floor to remove left over adhesive.

Good luck =)

JUST LEAVE IT!

I would think that it'll look pretty cool to have a quarter glued to my floor! And I think i'm gonna do it!

I dont know if it will work, but I glued one to a concrete garage floor one time......to get it up a good pop with a hammer broke it right loose. Then we would move to different sidewalks watching people trying to pick it up. To move? a good pop with the hammer and off we'd go.

I used to love doing that

done it everywhere mall, bowling ally, bar, school, in the coin return of a phone or vending machine. hammer and chisel works no problem just chisel the edge of the quater and not the floor. wear safty glasses.

Glue solvent or sand it

This response submitted by Raven on 01/07/2004. ( ) 24.150.166.254

There are super glue solvents avaialble from good hobby stores (large mom n pop type ones are best - especially those with lots of plastic models!).

If that doenst work the easiest thing to do (and maybe better than using the glue solvent in fact) is to simply sand it off. If the table is heavily clear coated, then only sand enough to remove the glue - then brush on some clear coat. You'll have to match the existing finsih tho - so if it was a solvent clear coat like varathane - use that. If it was an acrylic clear coat like urethane - then buy that. If there is no clear coat on it and it's bare wood - again sand it... then touch up with a matching colour of stain =)
