Embedding

Having made several model aircraft bases (with polyurethene or clear resins) with embedded items, I am looking for something that does not yellow with age. Does anyone have any knowledge on acrylic embedding? Of particular interest is the equipment required for this process.

Acrylic bedding and non-yellowing formula

Having made several bases for model aircraft as well as miniature hamburger/cheeseburger replicas (wife's passion), I can safely say that the best way to avoid non-yellowing, due to the aging of poly-resins is to add a small quantity of yellow acrylic paint to the mixture and switch to yellow bases! This also answers your question regarding acrylic bedding, since there is technically acrylic in the base in which you imbed these flying marvels. As far as equipment goes, I usually use a bread pan, wax paper, a screwdriver, toothpicks (to gauge consistency), 2 forks, a spark plug wrench, and salad tongs (a spatula will suffice).

Try using a U.V. stable epoxy resin.
