I make figurines out of plaster of paris - since the color is white, is there a finish solution that I can apply to achieve a smoother finish and protect the figurines esp the face so it will remain dust free?

Plaster of Paris is seldom used any longer except for temporary mold making. Newer, 2-part hard foams and polymers have long since replaced it. Try Pour-A- Cast or Smooth-On instead.
