Please can some one tell me if I can use plaster of paris moulds to produce candles? I tried to cover the inside of the mould with vaseline and the candle does come out.. but not easy, and some times chipped. Is there another release agent I can use. I have from my pottery plenty of moulds which I would like to use for candles. Is it possible? Can some one help me... Thank you Huberta

I made a plaster of paris cast and when it had dried well (24) hours I sprayed it with about 6 coats of aerosal shilac I bought at Lowes. This made the inside of the cast look yellowed but very smooth. Then I poured in plaster of paris and quickly poked little L shaped wires into the wet plaster. When it dried I pulled on the L shaped wires and it popped right out! I bet with wax you could forgo the wires and gently tap it out! God Bless
