...Can be found in any artist supply store. It's basicly a canvas primer, laytex paint with very finely ground marble dust. I apply it to the repo with a brush and rub it in with rubber gloves and then buff it off with fine steel wool. I've never used the mold release that you mentioned so usually a good washing with solvent and some type of soap is normally enough.

Sounds great. Will try some tomorrow.Whats your opinion of potassium permanganate on repoduction antlers?

Never Liked It

I never had any luck getting it to look like I wanted. I use stains and oil paints from the tube.

potassim permanganate

Ive found it rubs off, and turns your hands black. I have heard of adding pecan shell flour so it will actually stain the shell particles, but have not tried that yet. and whatever you have on your repros aint the relese agent, it should wipe right off with some acitone or most of the things you mentioned.
what is your casting made of?

bleach water

You could try soaking it overnight in bleach water if it's a polyurethane plastic. That helps get silicone based release agent off and get some of the plastics own oils off the surface so paint will stick. Just an old trick I've heard. Good luck! (don't know if it works for poly-ester resin though).
