Refreezing Snake

Got in a huge southern cotton mouth snake to mount.
I also got my form in but the head is to large.
Can I thaw the snake, skin, flesh and refreeze so I can measure the head, without any ill effects.

Thanks in advance,
skinner

I would recommend just thawing to measure the head and then refreezing the entire reptile. The snake can be skinned and the skin refrozen, but I would do it without fleshing and working the skin, since some cell matter could be damaged in the process. Skin the snake, if you feel a need to, but I would refreeze the critter after measuring the head. You can "Unthaw" the snake in warm (not hot) water and since the cervical area is much thinner than the rest of the body, it should free up first, dependent on the position. You should be able to measure the head without completely thawing the snake.
