Snake advice

I have a customer with a headless 4' copperhead. I'm thinking of tanning it and placing it on a board. The archives seem to sway towards Rittels tan kit but I saw snaketan in my Van Dykes today. Any pro's and cons on either. I'll remember to tan it in a dark place for coloration. I also wondered what type of wood would best enhance a copperhead. I saw a suggestion towards cedar. And what is a decent price for such a service? I guess you've figured out that I don't work with snakes much, you're right. Any imput appreciated. Thanks- Jeff F.

Rittels is my choice!

For whatever it is worth, I use Rittels and think it is the best around bar none. It is simple to use, and produces a great tanned skin with minimal or no color loss. As for a wood cghoice, Use something that is lighter than the skin so that the highlights and markings stand out well.

Thanks Tom

Since the head is off of it, and all you have to do is flesh it, tan it and glue it on the board basically, i would charge him no less than 175.00. I do not know what your area supports, but get paid for your work. 200.00 is probably a good price if you are also supplying the wood
