Was given a turtle shell by an African friend many years ago. Fairly large (18"x15"). Would like to clean it up a bit so I can hang it. It is scratched and dirty looking in several places on the outside (though the "dirt" doesn't come off by washing and scraping with a soft brush) and in a few places - the edges are starting to chip and lift off. How do I polish/clean the outside and seal the edges where it is chipped? (please be precise with names of tools/products necessary as I know nothing of taxidermy) Is it necessary to seal the whole shell or will polishing/waxing be sufficient?
