Oiling snake skin

I have a few more rattlers that I'm skinning out and wanted to try a couple as hat bands. I will be ordering Ritells snake tanning and the book that I have talks about oiling the flesh side of the skin .... what type of oil is recommended for this?

Asher, Rittels kit will have all you neeed except salt and vinegar. It also has instructions on making hatbands ect and just follow the directions.
