I found a rattlesnake that had just been ran over. I picked it up and skinned it. Now I have it in my refrig. What should I do next until I get a tanning solution? It was skinned yesterday approx 24 hrs ago. It is approx 48 hrs since I found it still twitching in the road. I scrapped most of the meat/blood/white-clear matter off the shin but still has a small amount on it.
Thanks,
Paul

Scrape it, wash it, and then freeze it and wait for the kit
What do I need to do after skinning this rattlesnake? What do I wash it with? Never done this before I need a step by step process.
Thanks for any info,
Paul
What are you doing with the skin Flat skin or whole life-size mount.Mike Gillis has a articule in the recent issue of Taxidermy Today on how to do a flat skin wall hanging.Might be worth checking out.
Thought it would be nice to just have it to hold and show his friends and maybe drape it over a dresser or even display it, but have it so he could let his friends touch and feel it too.
The snake tan kit from Bruce Rittel. You can wash the skin with dawn dish detergent, let it drip dry, put it in a plastic bag and then freeze. Simple as that.
