Are old dried snake skins reviveable?

Hi. A friend of mine gave me some skins he's had in a bag in his attic for quite some time. When he skinned them he tacked them to a board to dry and did not treat them with anything. He has since taken them off the board, put them in a plastic bag and stored them. They are in pretty good shape, but some flaking is occuring on the scales. I am hoping to soften the skins enough to flatten portions and frame them, but I'm not sure what type of product to use to soften the skins or if it's even possible. Any help would be apperciaited. Thanks, Beth.

I have an old python skin. No holes, no overstreaching, good color, etc. The problem is that it is quite stif ab=nd I want to use it to cover a seat cushion. One sorce recommendedsomthing from Tandy called KT-15, but Tandy seems never to have heard of it. I've also heard of 50/50 glyceryn and water, Will this work and will it prohibit the use of adheasives to mount the skin.
