I came across a nearly seven foot, severely injured Eastern Diamondback this past November while hunting in a Florida WMA. I called the FWC (Florida Wildlife Commision) immediately and asked if it was legal to kill the thing and take it with me. They said yes. I did and wound up with a pile of good chili meat and a beautiful skin that I'm in the process of mounting (flat) on a board for display.
