Cleaning turtle shells

Does the boiling water and water pressure technique work when the tissues on the inside of the shell are dried? The shells are pretty well cleaned of big tissue. I want to make them sanitary to be used in a classroom science class.

i'm not for sure if that method works or not, but what i do to clean them is remove most of the meat as possible. soak in 3 percent peroxide over night, rinse very good, then dry inside the best that i can with a towel, then coat heavily with 20 mule team borax. you can get this at meijers for very cheap. then let dry for 24 to 48 hours. once the borax is hardened, scrape it all off with a hard bristle brush. then coat the whole shell with clear coat poly eurothane. and that seals it and makes it pretty sanitary. thats all!1 good luck!
