I want to learn how to tan my own deer hides. Could someone tell me where I might find a really good video on this and the better type chemicals to use when doing this; thanks.

Yo, Fuzz!
I have a beginner video on tanning with Sallie Dames and Bob Elzner.
They cover reptile tanning, Mammal tanning and large game tanning.
It's pretty basic , but you can learn some principles of tanning.
email me if you're interested. $15.00 and I pay shipping.

I do beleive that WASCO may have a video on liqua tan. I
know for sure that McKenzie has one on Liqua Tan as well.
You can get one of our free instructional and technical booklet
just email me your address. This is the easiest way to
tan, plus Liqua Tan has a great Reputation.

This is one of the best tapes out there. Just substitute Rittle's Saftey Acid for the acid bath crystals. Also you need to pickle for a minimum of 3 days. Pickle 2 days, shave cape, pickle at least another day. Most all tanning agents come with detailed instructions. Follow them to the letter and you will not go wrong.

Hey, brother Fuzzy,
I started doing taxi again about 15 months ago. I used to do the
salt/alum pickle thing to preserve skins. I've learned tanning for
doing my skins and it's great. What Dan recommends is exactly what
I do now, including the Safety-Acid. Just do a good job of fleshing
and salting then follow the directions that come with the products
you decide on and you should do okay.

Good luck,

Fuzzy
