I recently came across a good deal on a fresh tanned wolf for a lifesize mount. It is a really nice alaskan winter fur in perfect condition and is professionally tanned. I had planned on using it for a competiton in about a year or so and am not sure about the best way to keep it in top condition. I've heard about problems with tanned hides as they grow old and wonder if I should soak it up and freeze it, freeze it as is, or if it will be okay hanging. If I soak it up to freeze, should I treat it with anything?
Also, do air dryed skins require any special treatment to keep them mountable?
Thank you in advance for your advise.
