help with revised instr. for EZ-100

Submitted by Joe on 12/13/00. ( )

I was reading thru the taxidermy forums and found a response about hair slippage using the EZ-100 tanning process. I had hair slippage using this process and am looking for the "revised instructions" which include pi641. I also need to know if after tanning is complete using the EZ-100 can the cape be fleshed thinner. If so, does it need to be re-pickled or tanned again. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Joe - the next time include your E-Mail address in your posting. That makes it easy to simply E-Mail the instructions to you as an attachment. We don't mind sending them out.

You didnt mention however, if you were simply staic tanning or usinf an Auto Tanner. I'm assuming you are using the Auto Tanner. If not, please let me know. If you're not then you may be simply compensating for some other problem with the process and perhaps we can help you with it.

As for shaving a cape tanned with EZ-100 after its tanned - yes - it can be done, but it should be moist and soft to do it without doing any damage to it. If its dry - simply soak like you were going to mount it the next day. Add 1 handful of salt to every 1 gallon of water, soak it for 30 minutes, remove it wet, and place it in a plastic garbage bag, tie it off, and refrigerate it overnight. The next day, remove the cape, prep it, shave it if you need to, and mount.

By the way - to E-Mail me - simply click on my E-Mail address in this header and type away.
