Does anyone know what tanning oil is made up of and can you make it yourself with readily available ingredients?Thanks

As far as I'm concerned, a good tanning oil is better left to Chemists and Labs to manufacture. To make it soluable it must be treated with acids, so it has a charge. Ordinary oils simply do not penetrate unless treated. I did an article for Breakthrough titled "Why Tanneries are so Successful - They use a good Tanning Oil". In it I tried to provide an in depth discussion on oils. It may help you. Why not call them for a back issue on it? I hope it can help answer your question.
