Tanning carp skins, need help!

Submitted by Brendan Wintle on 3/6/00. ( b.wintle1@pgrad.unimelb.edu.au ) 128.250.114.45

I have 100 salted carp skins that I would like to tan to leather (with
the aim of making a jacket for my friend's wedding, weird I know!).

I cant seem to find anyone who knows how to tan these things. If
anybody out there has a tanning recipe and some advice on timing etc..
I would be extremely grateful if they were to share it with me!!

Brendan.

I can try to help you!

Please contact me via E-Mail and we can talk. Click on my E-Mail address above. Fishskins are unique materials for tanning and although they make good leather, they must be handled differently than most leathers. In the past, I've worked with a Fishskin Tannery, and I may be able to help you.
