I was talking to a tanner today and we were discussing acids. Anyway, this gent told me one of the best acids to use was vinegar (white). He siad it was cheap and did the same thing as any other acid out there and that it was a natural product. Has anyone else heard of this? He also told me I could thin hydromist with windex?

Yes, you can use White Vinegar for pickling - but - you get a lot of funny looks at the Supermarket when you buy it!! Since it only contains 5-6% Acetic acid, its considered weak, but if you mix it 2 Quarts of Water to 2 Quarts of White Vinegar, and 1 Lb. of Salt - you can maintain a ph of 2.4-2.5. I wouldnt use it long term but it should be safe for 2-3 weeks. And yes, its safe.
Thanks Bruce, just wasn't sure the guy was pulling my leg or not. I plan on using the Saety Acid, getting too good of results with it to change.
