Ralph,
There is no "better" tan. A wet tan just hasn't been dried (some tanners do not oil wet tanned hides while others do). A wet tan usually ends up costing more because it's shipped 2nd day frozen so it gets to you quicker and if it's ready to come to you and a 3 day weekend is there, you sometimes are charged freezer space from the tanner. Dry tans take less space (no space in your freezer) and can last a year or longer in a cool dry place. Rehydrating a dry tanned hide gives you a "wet" tanned hide and when done properly has every bit the stretch and silkiness of a wet tanned hide. The BEST one for you is the one you like to work with the best .
