I'm a bit confused as to when to degrease a fox I'm tanning. A while back I posted a note that Mr. Rittel responded to and he said he would not advise degreasing when neutralizing (degreasing agent in with neutralizing solution). I have done this in the past with no problems leaving the skins neutralize and degrease for about 30 minutes. The Breakthrough mammal manual states that degreasing like this actually assists the degreasing process. I'm using Grease Buster and it says on the bottle to degrease after pickling and shaving and return to the pickle. What concerns me is it states to soak 1-2 hours in 80 degree degreasing solution. Wouldn't the 80 degree water possibly be detrimental to the skin. I've degreased coyote, coon, and fox while neutralizing and not had a problem but knowing how easy fox slip I don't want to take a chance as this will be a competition piece for the Pa. show. Can you guys help me out on this. Right now its back in the pickle after shaving.
