I use aluminum sulfate for a pickle and I also use a fleshing machine,I can not seam to get very much strech when I am ready to mount my deer heads.Any Ideas?
Thanks Rob
Alum shrinks fibers (great for slipping hides) but for normal good capes go with formic or safetee acid and watch those capes grow. Good Luck

Aluminum sulphate is not a pickle in any of the books on tanning I have.
It is a tanning agent. Your pickle should have some type of acid to induce a low pH, neutralize then mix the A/S to a pH of 4-5.
Have you tried to run it under plain cold water? Try that and see if it losens up after 5 minutes or so. JOhn C
