Stretch

Rob,
When I first started mounting deer I used the Liqua Tan and wasnt getting any stretch. My problem was I just wasnt shaving the capes thin enough. When I finally fiqured this out I didnt have any problems. Just my experience you may not have the same problem. You could try taking a piece of cape that you have cut off and shave it thinner to see if this might be your trouble. Maybe John or Dave can give you more info. By the way I just send all my capes to a tannery now it saves me a lot of time and headaches.

SOmetimes with any tan we over do it

You did not say if you are letting the cape dry out once L-T is applied. TAke a tablespoon of soda bicarb in 12 ounces of water and sponge it on, careful not to over do it. I think this will loosen up the skin.

Do this only on the skin side.

I think you have a acid swelliing problem.

Once it starts relaxing becareful not to over do it, as it can make the hair loose.

You may also want to use a cup of ERA LAUNDRY Liquid in 4 gallons of water, the higher pH of the soap will counter the acid swell many times.

Give it a try and let us know. JohnC
