Im looking for an alternative to dry preservative and was reading about these two products and they seemed to be pretty easy to use and with limited room in my shop they might be a great alternative?Do you still go through all the steps as far as pickling and rehydrating? it seemed as though just reading very lillte that you go from the salting stage to using these products? Thanks in advance, any feedback is appreciated!

Dan, I think Pickling is very important and not to be taken lightly with any tanning method. Both products are excellent and easy to use. When I pickle my hides I use Safetee acid from Rittels. My choice between the 2 would be EZ-100 although I used Kwik and easy for years with excellent results.Once you get to tanning with these products I think you will like them better than dry preservative.Basically after salting the procedure is: rehydrating, pickling, shaving, return to pickle, neutralizing and then applying cream or soaking in the EZ-100. The advantage to the cream is there is no additional oiling as with the EZ-100 you must oil the hide after tanning. If you have any additional questions feel free to e-mail me. Good luck Mark V.
Do you have to oil the tanned hide if you are going to mount it on a form?
