Hello , To begin with I am a full time taxidermist and I just completed
my schooling although I know I have a ton to learn still. I tanned one
deer hide( Saftee Acid two days/15min nuetrializer/liquatan.) The
problem is that the hide isn't really soft. Why is it? I have a couple commer
icially tanned hides and they are really soft. I just took in two
coyotes that I want to tan soft. What do I do? ( I use a fleshing
machine)

For softeness it has to be broken, i.e. tumbled in a large 3 feet dia. drum. There are many articles about how to do this and even one or two about building a tumbler.

Rittels has just what you need.
