I've applied the JRTS tan cream to my deer cape,i left it to soak in the hide a few hours.The cape is now stiff,should i soak it in salt and cool water until it softens up to mount. Thanks
James, its hard for me to believe youre cape has dried stiff in afew hours.You want youre hide somewhat soft and pliable when applying youre tanning cream. I use Liqua-Tan on my hides and I usually heat it up in a microwave.After it soaks in overnight I will fold it up to freeze or I let it airdry ,to mount later.When I rehydrate my hide I just use plain water and Relax-R from Knoblochs. After you have applied youre tanning solution and are ready to rehydrate you dont want to add salt to youre water solution.
