Is it ok to freeze a skin after pickling and neautralizing before applying the tanning oil?
Are you using Liqua-Tan or another tanning cream?
Oil alone don't work.
Don't neutralize the skins or capes and freeze them! Its better to pull them from the pickle, drain, pat dry with a towel, fold and then freeze them. I've had skins shipped to me in this condition and they were fine. However, if you neutralize them using an alkaline like baking soda, its presence will slowly pulp the epidermis and cause slippage. Its just too long an exposure to an alkaline. Bacteria is not the only cause for slippage - exposure to an alkaline for long periods will do it too!
