Commercial Tanning process

I know a guy who used to work for a commercial tanner who is telling me that the process they used for tanning was to take a hide (sometimes frozen sometimes salted) and submersed directly into the tanning bath. No pickle required. They soaked it for 24hrs THEN fleshed it (knofed it is the term he is using). Next they tumbled it for 24hrs. and it was finished and ready to go. Is this possible? If so what type of tan is it?

You got more than sticky finger you got juked. This is not possible. There may be a good reason that this person 'used' to work for this tannery - they are probably out of business.
