Tumbler

Dave,
I'm interested in a tumbler also. I see McKenzie has one in their catalog which is offered in either 30 or 55 gallon . My reason for writing is I know McKenzie gives discounts. I bought a tanner through them with my regular order and saved over $100.00 on it. anyway you may want to check out their catalog or even call. They've always been willing to answer all my questions. Good luck...and let us know which one you decide on...ok.

Fiber board is fine, but the Authenic is better

I think either is fine, I know several people that have the VD fiberboard one.

I did get the plastic barreled, gear drive, gear motored one from Authentic Supply, why? I really feel its the best for the long run, the plastic will never go soft from wet hides, or a flood even, the gear drive is a plus no slipping of the v-belt, it also has double greasable bearings one both ends. But it was a little expensive, I have already made my money back from it, and it is still just like new.

Dave,I Have the VD fiber tumbler and it works great-but I only
use it for birds. I don't know how it would hold up if you are going
to be throwing a lot of wet hides into it. It is a good quality
machine. Good luck. Joe.

Tumblers

Hello Dave,
I just had to jump in on this one!
Our tumbler is not belt driven. It is a shaft driven machine,in fact, they all are, including the ones We sell that are similar to John C's has (Plastic Barrels).
We use the 55 gal. Fiber drum in our taxidermy shop and have used the same one for I cant tell you how many years. We've tumbled Life size Brown Bears in it as well as many large African animals,Elk,deer, all the way down to turkey's,geese, duck's and Quail. The Fiber tumbler will turn at 12.5 RPS,slow enough to gently tumble any bird without damage to the feathers, and will tumble dry a deer cape in 10 min. If anything should happen to the drum, We do sell replacement drums for all tumblers
McKennzie sells nothing but excelent products and you should do your home work as to decide what will work best for you.I just wanted to give you a little information on our product.

If you have any questions on our Tumblers, give me a call at (1-800)843-3320 ext.105 or e-mail me at this address.

Have a good day,
Dave>VanDyke's

Authentic

Dave,

I bought the tumbler from Authentic Supply about a year ago and it's working out great for me. I only have one design complaint about this tumbler. The door doesn't completely seal and you'll have a mess of corn cob or sawdust under your tumbler in a short period of time. It's not a major problem, just a minor inconvenience that I thought should be addressed. Other than that, it works great. I have no experience with the VD fibre tumbler and can't comment on that one. I'm sure it works well also.

Gary
