Home tanned whitetail cape

Submitted by Bryan B on 2/20/01. ( )

I have tanned a couple of deer capes using LiquaTan. I was wondering, if after applying the LiquaTan, and the LiquaTan has absorbed into the skin for a couple of hours, should I let the cape dry with the flesh side out or should I turn it inside out so the hair is on the outside? Does drying with the flesh side or hair side out present any problems when rehydrating before mounting?

If your going to dry it then make sure you have the hair on the inside and place a fan near it. Having the hair on the outside will not let the hide dry out properlly. Always flesh side out.
