I recently purchased my first fleshing machine and was wanting to learn some fleshing techniques that some of yall use.Do you stay on one spot until you get to the thickness that you want and then move on or do you move around all over the hide until all the hide is a uniform thickness? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Tim
Tim,
Just habit I quess but I always do the edges first, then the neck and next the face. I save the brisket for last. One thing, each time I touch up the blade, I go to a thick section, to ensure my blade bite is not overly aggressive. I work around the ears, when I know my blade is about ready for touch up.
Best advice, do what works for you and as always practice makes perfect. Good luck
Thanks Bob B. for the tips. Those are some good techniques.I will definetly try working around the ear with a not so sharp blade.
Thanks alot
Tim M.
HiTim,
We have a one hour video that will teach you, step by step,
all the tricks of the trade. We cover how to adjust the guards,
how to use the sharpeners, how to hold and present the skin to
the blade, how to do edges, corners, arround the ears, nose, eyes,
lips. We show you how the Quebec machine works on black bear and
raw skins. It sells for $25.00
When you buy a machine from us you get this video free, plus you
can phone me directly and get explanations on any perticular
problem you may be having. A machine is only as good as the operator.
